I have created a BlogEngine extension for all of you World of Warcraft enthusiasts out there. This extension basically replaces [ wowid:22589 ] or [ wowtext:Atiesh, Greatstaff of the Guardian ] with Atiesh, Greatstaff of the Guardian and Atiesh, Greatstaff of the Guardian respectfully. It uses the latest Wowhead javascript library that they suggest the community uses for this sort of thing.

Installation is easy, just drop the WowItemLink.cs into your ~/App Code/Extensions folder and upload onto your web host. It will work on both Pages and Posts. I have tested it with the majority of inputs that I can, but I am certain there are bugs with it. If you find any please post here and I will look into it.

WowItemLink.cs (3.37 kb)

Heya - Just looking through some blogengine.net blogs, seems to be a fairly nice platform, certainly better than blogger but still playing with the idea of wordpress.  Any major plus points you have found over WP at all?

Thanks

I would have to say that the ability to customize BlogEngine is a lot easier than customizing WP. My experience is that WP upgrades break a lot of functionality, and so far I have not had any issues upgrading my blog or enhancing it.

However, my fellow wiki editors are interested in getting tooltips for achievements, spells, quests, etc. Do you have any idea of a working extension that would do this as well?

Yeah, I know that some people have written a way to get the XML from Wow Armory and disect that into a nice format. That takes a LOT more time than what I did here. So I guess it's easy to say yes it is possible to do this. Do I know any good libraries to do it easily, unfortunately no I do not.

Works great, just recently set this up on my guild's media wiki. Mostly still very much under construction but feel free to check it out at Involution-of-Thrall.com/invowiki/
